Marc Siegel, spa professional first entered the field of retail in August of 1979, joining the exclusive Buyer’s Training Program at Saks Fifth Avenue. At the time, Saks Fifth Avenue was under the direction of Company President Burt Tansky, considered a merchandising and financial wizard, and company Chairman Arnold Aronson, a renowned retail guru. Both Aronson and Tansky quickly identified a unique talent within Marc Siegel spa professional, as well as the combination of a tireless work ethic, a laser focus and a considerable business acumen. It was because of this unique combination of skill, talent and drive that Aronson and Tansky promoted Siegel to Assistant Buyer, and then Buyer, within the span of just 12 months. Siegel’s considerable merchandising and buying skills led to 300% increase in department growth, as well as a gross margin that was highest in the chain.
Marc Siegel then took his extensive knowledge of and expertise in retail to his return to the hospitality industry. Both beginning with The Spa at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort, as well as throughout his continuing career, Siegel was responsible for the creation of numerous branded private label products, accessories and clothing for many Spa and Wellness, and Salon programs. He also developed extensive sponsorships, co-op marketing and sales initiatives with vendors and extensive co-branding platforms, and worked to join together the world’s largest companies to participate in his unique Spa, Wellness and Salon concepts.
